It is indeed a great pleasure to welcome you all to the 27th Bunts re-union in Marriott Hotel in this historic city of Leicester.

It has been 27 years since our first Bunts get together in Crest Hotel, Rochester, Kent. Ever since 1990, we have been meeting every year at various places in the UK, without fail. I am sure each one of us may recall most of the meetings and our own memorable incidents to reflect upon.

When we started the Association way back in 1990 we were about 50 or so Bunt families scattered all over the UK. Professionally, majority of them were doctors. Over the years many Bunt families, with various professions, arrived in the UK to join the Bunt community. In addition, the second and third generation of Bunts, who are born in the UK, join the mainstream.

It is estimated that the total number of Bunts living in the UK is nearer to 600 families. It will be a great momentum if all of us have an occasion to meet together in a single venue.

It is nice to see that so many of our youngsters are participating in this re-union. We have a great culture and we have a great tradition going back to few millennium. We must recognise that our culture and traditions are unique. That is the very thing which is binding us together and pushing us to move forward.

The Bunt community should move forward confidently and play an important role in the society we live in. However, we should always remember our roots and retain our wonderful culture at all times with appropriate adjustments.

I wish to thank you all for your support to our organisation and hope that all of us have a great future.

Best wishes for the New Year.
